Minimum Wage Set to $15.20 by 2021

The BC government has endorsed the Fair Wages Commission recommendations (report) to increase the minimum wage to $15/hr by 2021. The increases are spaced out over the next 4 years:

  • June 1, 2018: $12.65 an hour ($1.30 increase)
  • June 1, 2019: $13.85 ($1.20 increase)
  • June 1, 2020: $14.60 ($0.75 increase)
  • June 1, 2021: $15.20 ($0.60 increase)

The first increase will benefit 94,000 workers this June, with the final increase to $15.20 predicted to benefit 400,000 workers (approximately 20% of BC’s workforce) throughout the province.
